Repair is typically right when:
- The pump housing and major castings are structurally sound.
- Failure is confined to internal wear components such as the rotating group, seals, or valve plate.
- Repair cost is less than 40–50% of a replacement pump's cost.
Replacement may make more sense when:
- The pump housing has cracks, severe erosion, or structural damage.
- The pump is obsolete and internal parts are no longer available.
- Contamination damage is so extensive that total rebuild cost approaches replacement cost.
